Licensing and Pricing

Balsamiq Mockups for XWiki is licensed by number of users. Buy a Team license (25 users), and you'll be able to specify up to 25 users from your XWiki installation to be 'mockup editors', giving them the ability to create and edit mockups on your wiki.

Every Mockups For XWiki license key can be used for equal number of Mockups For Desktop licenses, so that your designers and engineers will be able to work on their mockups when they are offline.

Buying Mockups For XWiki is easy, secure and should take less than 5 minutes. Credit card payments (form below) are the easiest and speediest, but we also accept Purchase Orders to be paid by US-checks or electronic wire transfers, email us your PO. I need a formal quote before I can purchase.

All licenses of 25 users and higher come with 12 months of software maintenance (support and product updates). Beyond this initial 12 month period, you may renew your software maintenance for a further 12 months at our discounted renewal prices.

Community & Open Source licenses

Community

Balsamiq Mockups for XWiki is free for use by official non-profit organisations and charities (proof of non-profit status is required). There are certain organisations whose purpose is to make the world a better place, and we believe in helping them achieve that.

Community licenses are designed for organisations which are:

  • non-profit,
  • non-government,
  • non-academic,
  • non-commercial,
  • non-political and
  • secular

in nature, that would not otherwise be able to afford XWiki. If your organisation is philanthropic in nature then you probably qualify.

To apply for a Community License, send us an email specifying the following information:

  1. The registered name of your organization
  2. Your organization's URL
  3. a short description of your organization

Open Source

Balsamiq Studios supports and believes in the Open Source movement. Balsamiq Mockups for XWiki is free for any Open Source project to use.

There are a few requirements for an Open Source license, the main ones being:

  • Established code base
  • Publicly available project website
  • Using an approved open source license
  • Your XWiki instance will be publicly accessible

To apply for an Open Source License, send me an email specifying the following information:

  1. Project Name
  2. Project URL - Your project must have a public URL
  3. Project Description - Please outline the goals of your project and its intended users.
  4. XWiki Instance URL.
  5. Open Source License(s) used - Licenses must be on the list of licenses approved by the Open Source Initiative at http://opensource.org/licenses/alphabetical
  6. Where can we download your source code?

 

Licensing Terms

A commercial/academic license entitles you to:

  • Deploy a single instance of Balsamiq Mockups for XWiki as a plugin to a single instance of XWiki in a production environment on 1 server accessible by the number of users licensed
  • Unlimited Mockups
  • Perpetual Balsamiq Mockups for XWiki use
  • For licenses of 25 users or higher: Software maintenance for 12 months - including all updates and online support
  • For smaller licenses: Software support via forums

Licensing fees are quoted per total number of ‘Mockups users’. A Mockup user is by definition any user account in the XWiki system that hosts Balsamiq Mockups who is a member of the BalsamiqMockupsEditors group, i.e. anyone who can create and edit mockups while logged in. Unlimited ‘anonymous users’ are allowed to view mockups on all licenses.

The following organisations are eligible for a Balsamiq Academic License:

  • Educational institutions: Public or private K-12, vocational schools, correspondence schools, junior colleges, colleges, universities, or scientific or technical schools that are accredited by a national accrediting agency.
  • Administrative offices & boards of education: Provincial, district, regional, national and state administrative offices and authorities of the Educational Institutions defined above.
  • Public libraries
  • Public museums
  • Home-school programs
  • Research institutes that are affiliated with an accredited university.
  • Teaching hospitals that are affiliated with an accredited university.
  • Training and teaching organisations that are accredited by a statutory government qualifications body.

Proof of accreditation or affiliation may be required when ordering a Balsamiq Academic License.
