Hello friends.
This week’s release is pretty light-weight as we’ve been focusing on MyBalsamiq, our web app. Reactions to our first public screencast of the app were very kind, which is encouraging. I’m not yet totally in love with the app myself, so we have some more work to do. Stay tuned here for updates.
The main change in this week’s release of Mockups is a renewed security code-signing certificate for the Desktop application. This is how we make sure you know that what you’re installing comes from us and is not a virus or something. Boring stuff but important. This is a delicate change so if you hit any issues upgrading let us know and we’ll get right on it. We tested all cases we could think of, but you never know with these things.

Here’s a summary of our latest blog posts:

Onward!
[...] Balsamiq Weekly Release: Updated Certificate, Bug Fixes (Peldi Guilizzoni) [...]
After upgrading to this version (desktop app) all of my images are missing (they say “Image not found”). I checked and all of the images are still in the project’s assets folder.
If I open each and every Mockup, ungroup related items, double-click on the image, and select the source again, it does appear to fix it. However, this could take all day (to update every mockup in every project). So for the moment I am not saving any changes and am hoping there is a simple fix (maybe I did something wrong?).
Thoughts?
Same here – appears that image assets are now showing as as “Image not found”, whereas they appeared in v1.6.64.
It is happening to me for images that are not grouped.
I tried using the previous build link from the desktop version download page, to get back to the version that worked, but when AIR tries to install it, get the rather cryptic:
“Sorry an error has occurred.
This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance.”
…perhaps due to the older version now having a different security certificate?
Oh and I’m using Win7 x64 and beta 2 of AIR 2 by the way.
Just to clarify the “It is happening to me for images that are not grouped.” comment – I mean unlike the post above mine, it appears to be happening for images that are not grouped as well as those that are.
Hi there, so sorry about the image bug. We have a fix ready to go. In the meantime, you can downgrade here: http://www.balsamiq.com/demos/MockupsForDesktop_PreviousVersion.air
Thanks.
Also, when I create a “new blank mockup” or “new clone of current mockup” and “save as”, could it default to the location you were on when you chose either option? (if anything, at least for cloning)
Sorry to make a feature request here, but it seemed to be directly related to the new option just added for desktop version (thanks for that, btw)
New version fixes the image problem – thanks!
Just to let you know, the desktop mockups download page says current version is 1.6.66 but the about screen says 1.6.67?
[Peldi: just fixed, thanks]
Also, don’t know if you saw my message above about the downgrade link not working. Can repost on the Get Satifaction forum if that suits more?
[You're right, this one time downgrading won't work, you'd have to uninstall and reinstall. It was like the perfect storm!]
